Miles Sandy began his automotive journey born by the adoration of a Ferrari Dino 246 GT purchased by his father James. The path was set. Miles started his Mechanical apprenticeship with Alec Mildren Alfa Romeo in 1978 and moved onto Lolita Automotive Developments (Ferrari/Lamborghini) in 1983.

In 1986 the Ferrari journey continued when Miles began working with Scuderia Veloce Motors Sydney where he became Head Technician and trained in Italy at Ferrari S.p.A.

 

The motorsport bug had already bitten and Miles was actively campaigning the first of numerous Datsun 1600's. In 1989 Miles moved to the UK and purchased a Toyota ST165 GT-Four Celica which he built to Group A rally specification. On his return to Australia (with the Celica) the love of the Ferrari marque was still compelling, and on the prompting of his Father, Cavallino Motorsport Pty Ltd opened in 1993.

In 1996 Cavallino Motorsport PTY LTD, had outgrown itself and new premises were found to accommodate the expansion. Miles's motorsport journey also continued to flourish with the delivery of a Possum Bourne Motorsport, Subaru Impreza STi Group A rally car.

Over the last 30 years, Miles and his Team have earned an enviable reputation, both within Australia for high quality Ferrari service & repairs... and, across the world for Miles's knowledge of the Ferrari Dino 246 GT, to the point of becoming recognised as an Authenticity Consultant by numerous restoration specialists. 

​

Over the next 3 decades the list of awards and accolades for Ferrari restorations is nothing short of spectacular, with recognition by Ferrari Club of Australia, Concours d'Elegance Australia, Australian International Concours d'Elegance Motorclassica...

Miles's Motorsport career also flourished during these times with an impressive list of Rally wins, the highlights being 3 times

NSW Rally Champion and winner of the Tarmac Tasmania Championship.

​

With recognition from Ferrari Club Australia, Miles has amassed a multiple award winning personal collection of 14 iconic Ferraris, which includes 4 Ferrari Dino 246GT & GTS's, a 365 GTB 4 Daytona, a 308 GTB Vetro and of course the one and only, Michele Alboreto 288 GTO.
